I am a qualified and experienced solution focussed hypnotherapist, with a background in coaching and counselling. I combine psychotherapy techniques with hypnosis and coaching to help people like you achieve balance, purpose, focus and happiness in your life.

About Me

My name is Francis Carter, and I am a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist. My fascination with Psychology began during my A-levels, where I learnt about mental health disorders and the inner workings of the brain. 
In order to further pursue my new dream of becoming a therapist, I then went to university to study Counselling, Coaching and Mentoring. 
here, I gained a deep understanding of Psychodynamic therapy, Person Centred therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy). As a result of comparing hypnotherapy and counselling for my dissertation, I decided that good quality solution focused hypnotherapy results in the most affective, long-lasting changes for clients. 
So, I pursued this at Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT), where I learned about neuroscience and hypnosis, as well as the best solutions to facilitate both a mentally and physically healthy life.

What to Expect

1. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

In short, this type of therapy focuses on solutions and positivity. We do not collude with negatives, as that is counterproductive. We will explore your idea of your positive future, one where you have control over your life and your mental health, and session by session we will work towards that goal, whilst creating and maintaining a positive outlook on life.

2. Initial Consultation

The initial consultation is there to discuss the reasons why you are seeking hypnotherapy. I will gather information regarding your symptoms, experiences. I will then outline the treatment plan for your specific case, followed by exploring the workings of the brain to give you an insight into why you feel the way you do and how that can improve.

3. Following sessions

Each session will be approximately 1 hour long, and it will typically consist of 7 psychotherapeutic techniques (depending on treatment plan explained in the initial consultation) including 2 positive communication techniques, brain revision, scaling, miracle question and last but certainly not least trance/hypnosis.

4. Hypnosis/Trance

Trance is completely normal, in fact, we all experience trance more often than you think: when we’re driving, out for walks, watching TV and so on. This will last around 20 minutes at the end of each session. The trance will leave you feeling relaxed, calm, positive and confident. It also has the added benefit of improving the quality of your sleep each night.
